Ship Comparison
Carnival Freedom vs Carnival Firenze
For a classic Carnival experience with broad appeal, choose Freedom; for an Italian-themed journey with modern amenities and exclusive spaces, Firenze awaits.
The verdict
Carnival Freedom, a beloved Conquest-class ship built in 2007 and refreshed in 2019, consistently delivers a high-value, fun-for-all-ages vacation. Its well-established 'Fun Ship' formula, enhanced by popular 2.0 upgrades like Guy's Burger Joint and WaterWorks, ensures a lively atmosphere with plenty of complimentary options. Carnival Firenze, a newer megaship from 2020, offers a distinctive 'Fun Italian Style' experience, blending Carnival's signature energy with elegant Florentine touches. While Firenze aims for a more unique thematic journey, some traditional Carnival elements are reinterpreted, which might be a delightful change for some and a slight departure for others. Both ships excel in providing a vibrant, family-friendly environment, but Firenze's newer build and specialized 'Terrazza' concept offer a more contemporary and, for some, a more refined take on the Carnival cruise.

What reviewers say
Carnival Freedom
4.5/5Carnival Freedom offers tremendous value with a fun-for-all-ages atmosphere, making it a great choice for multigenerational families. While some spaces could use refinement, its fresh concepts and extensive complimentary dining ensure a good time onboard.
Carnival Firenze
4.5/5Not everyone likes change, and on our inaugural sailing from Long Beach, we heard grousing from some Carnival faithful that Carnival Firenze strayed too far from the Fun Ship formula. We disagree. Behind the Italian trappings, we found a cruise ship that still delivered Carnival value and vibe, as well as tasty food and nightlife -- la dolce vita, indeed.
